Snow in Michigan is not that uncommon in winter. However today's forecast was for sun and clouds and possibly a flurry. So imagine my surprise when I came out of my work building to near white out conditions. Lucky for me I have a 5 min walk through a parking lot to get to my car, as I entertained myself by taking pictures. This was followed by one of the scariest commutes I've ever had - white knuckle all the way struggling to find where the road was through the heavy snow! Never got over about 20 mph on this major interstate, for all of an hour. So when I got home I immediately checked the radar to see how they got it so wrong. The time-lapse showed a very condensed cell of moisture moving EXACTLY along the freeway I take home during the time of my commute - and pretty much no snow anywhere else in the metro area. So much for the dark cloud over my head being metaphorical! Hmm, not a good sign only a few hours until my birthday....
